Tottenham name asking price for Cristian Romero – with Atletico Madrid circling for Argentine centre-back

Tottenham are aiming to bolster squad having qualified for Champions LeagueBut Cristian Romero could leave the club this summer if asking price is met

Tottenham are understood to be asking in excess of £60million should Cristian Romero push to leave this summer.

The combative Argentine centre-back is regarded as one of the most important players in Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

As such, the club would demand a premium for the 27-year-old, with Atletico Madrid interested in him.

Romero has been at Tottenham since 2021 when he joined, initially on loan from Atalanta before the deal was made permanent for around £13m.

A key factor in Romero’s next move in north London could be Postecoglou’s future.

Despite leading Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years by winning the Europa League final against Manchester United, the Australian could be given the axe.

‘He makes them walk a bit taller, so yeah from my perspective it is a no-brainer that making sure players like him (stay).

‘If he goes, who do you replace him with? There is not too many out there like him.’
