Brentford agree £42million deal to sign Premier League forward with medical TODAY – as move opens door for Yoane Wissa’s departure to Newcastle

Brentford have reached agreement in principle over a deal worth £42m to sign winger Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth.

The versatile Burkina Faso international will undergo a medical today ahead of a move to the Bees.

Ouattara had three years left on his contract but made it clear that he wanted to leave.

The Cherries had little alternative but to allow the highly rated winger to go, for a price they felt was reasonable market value at £37m plus add-ons of £5m.

His arrival could now clear the path for Yoane Wissa to leave with Newcastle United keen to save the 28-year old.

Bournemouth are looking at replacements and have Amine Adli of Bayer Leverkusen as one target high on their wish list.

Brentford are believed to be hoping for about £40million to sanction the sale of Wissa.

The forward has just a year left on his contract but the Bees have the option to extend it by a further year until 2027.

Wissa scored 19 goals and claimed five assists in the league last season for Brentford.

Wissa wants to join Newcastle, meaning that personal terms are not thought to be an issue should a fee be agreed.

Newcastle still want another forward after Wissa and are working on targets, amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Alexander Isak.

Wissa has missed much of Brentford’s pre-season after leaving their training camp in Portugal on July 21.

Wissa returned to training last week following talks with head coach Keith Andrews.
