Man City star Jack Grealish ‘targeted by surprise Premier League rival’ after falling out-of-favour under Pep Guardiola

Man City star Jack Grealish ‘targeted by surprise Premier League rival’ after falling out-of-favour under Pep Guardiola

Manchester City star Jack Grealish could be set for a switch to a Premier League rival, according to a report.

Grealish’s time with City looks set to come to an end this summer after he was left out of their 27-man Club World Cup squad last month.

His omission followed a frustrating season in which he made just seven Premier League starts.

Pep Guardiola has hinted that leaving City could be Grealish’s best chance to revive his career and rediscover the form he showed at Aston Villa.

And now, Everton are keen to take the 29-year-old on loan ahead of entering a new era at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, according to the Independent.

The Toffees’ chances of landing the forward are believed to be boosted by his desire to remain in the north.

Grealish became a father last September following the birth of his daughter with long-term partner Sasha Attwood, and is now seeking greater stability.

A move to Everton would allow him to stay in Cheshire while offering a fresh footballing opportunity, despite having two years left on his £300,000-a-week deal at the Etihad.

David Moyes is prepared to build his team around Grealish and offer him the creative freedom he’s lacked since his £100m move to City in 2021.

The England international has scored 17 goals and registered 23 assists in 157 appearances for City, and played a key role in their treble-winning season.

Earlier this month, Grealish was spotted at Oasis’ concert in Manchester and was said to tell a fan:  ‘You know what? I love City more than anything.

‘And do you know what I love more than anything? City fans. They’re the best fans in the world.’

Asked about Grealish’s omission from the Club World Cup earlier this summer, City boss Guardiola said: ‘He had a conversation with the club and they decided it was best.

‘Jack is an exceptional player. The only reason why he didn’t play last season is of course my decisions.

‘We decide that he has to play. The club was honest, he was honest.

‘We decide that the best thing is to stay (behind) and have a place that he can feel like he can come back to be the player like he was in the year of the Treble or all his career in Aston Villa.

‘Without him it would have been more difficult in the year of the Treble.

‘The fact is in the last two seasons he didn’t play much minutes. He has to come back to play and have the butterflies in his stomach that he can play every three days, every three days and show again the quality he has.’
