Harvey Elliott has admitted he ‘needs to think about what is best for his future’ following Liverpool’s title-winning campaign.
The midfielder joined the Reds six years ago from Fulham as a teenager, having made his Premier League debut at the age of 16, and has kicked on – though his progress has perhaps not been as strong as he had hoped.
He has made 143 appearances for Liverpool to date, though he has not started a Premier League game so far this season – playing 14 times in total while being an unused substitute in 12 other games.
Despite being fit the whole time, Elliott has played just 152 minutes of Premier League football in 2025, usually first deputy for either Mohamed Salah on the right or Dominik Szoboszlai in attacking midfield.
He could see more game time in the final four matches now the league title is wrapped up, but will be searching for more regular minutes soon at the age of 22.
And, speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the midfielder has revealed he is unsure where his future lies, yet he is still determined to give his all for the Reds.

Harvey Elliott has admitted he ‘needs to think about what his best’ for his career at Liverpool

The midfielder has failed to start a Premier League game so far this season under Arne Slot

Elliott has seen the least amount of game time this season since 2021-22 season, when he suffered a serious ankle injury
‘You never know what is going to happen around the corner,’ he said. ‘If I had it my way, that would be here, I would play each and every game here and stay here for the rest of my career but it all depends on managers, the people above and as I said you don’t know what could happen but as far as I am aware I am here, here to stay and this is the club I want to be at.
‘Hopefully I am still here to be honest. It is the best place to be, the best club to be at and especially having the fans around us at the moment, I don’t think there is a better place to be playing.
‘Players go through ups and downs but at the end of the day you have to come out fighting and I think it is within myself to make it happen. So hopefully I can stay here for the rest of my career.’
Elliott missed a large period at the start of the season with a broken foot, and found it hard to get into any rhythm when he returned.
He found game time more regular under Jurgen Klopp, but has played the fewest number of games this term since the 2021-22 season when he suffered a serious ankle injury that saw him spend five months on the sidelines.
He has been linked with the likes of Brighton and Borussia Dortmund in recent months, but he is happy to do his bit at Anfield at the moment.
‘I think it’s been a lot more difficult for me because I obviously had that injury at the start,’ Elliott said. ‘But at the same time, you need to be here for the team, work as hard as you can and when the opportunities come on the pitch.
‘A lot of times this season it’s almost been [coming on] when we’ve been losing or drawing, so it is about trying to change the game, try and turn it around and have a positive impact. But, you know, any minutes for Liverpool are amazing.’
‘I hope that I can push on. This is my team, I am committed to them and it’s just a situation that is always going to have a lot of talk, I just need to think about what is best for my future, my career and as much as I want it to be here.
