England midfielder Angel Gomes has confirmed that he will leave Lille this summer after four seasons in France.

The 24-year-old, who has been capped four times by the Three Lions, broke the news in a statement published on Instagram on Monday.

It read: ‘After four unforgettable years at LOSC Lille, it’s time for me to say goodbye. This club has been more than just a team — it’s been a family, a home, and a place that has shaped me both on and off the pitch.

‘Like any journey, there were ups and downs, highs and lows, but I’m truly grateful to my teammates and the fans for sticking with me throughout.

‘I’m proud of what we achieved together and thankful for every moment. To the fans — thank you for your amazing support and for believing in me. I will forever be grateful. I always gave everything I had for the badge and for all of you.

‘Lille will always have a special place in my heart. Merci et à bientôt.’

Gomes joined Lille from Manchester United in 2020, having made 10 senior appearances for the Old Trafford club.

He spent the following season on loan at Boavista in Portugal but has since featured in over 100 Ligue 1 matches for Lille, who finished fifth in the French top flight this season.

Gomes will be available on a free transfer this summer and interest in his signature is high.

Multiple Premier League clubs — including West Ham and Tottenham — are understood to be keen on bringing him back to England, while Marseille would like to keep him in France.

All four of Gomes’ senior international caps to date came under interim manager Lee Carsley last year.

He made his debut as a substitute in England’s 2-0 win over to Ireland in September, before playing the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 victory over Finland at Wembley just three days later.

Gomes then also featured in a 3-1 triumph away to Finland in October and the 5-0 thrashing of Ireland in November.

Prior to breaking into the senior side, Gomes enjoyed a highly successful youth career with England, winning the U17 World Cup in 2017 and the U21 European Championship in 2023.
