Manchester United are reportedly monitoring two goalkeeping targets ahead of a potential move this summer, amid concerns over the long-term suitability of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

The pair have been in the spotlight of late for their less than convincing displays, with Onana bearing the brunt of the criticism for a pair of howlers in the Europa League first-leg draw with Lyon.

His blunders prompted Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim to drop him from the squad for the Premier League clash against Newcastle but Bayindir failed his audition and showed his failings, particularly with the ball at his feet.

According to The Sun, the former Fenerbahce stopper is likely to be moved on in the summer amid fears that he is not good enough to play the style demanded by Amorim.

Their report also cites the possibility of veteran Tom Heaton hanging up his gloves at the end of the season to take up a coaching role at Old Trafford. As a result, United are reportedly targeting Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kaua Santos and Lille’s Lucas Chevalier.

The 22-year-old Santos has been the understudy to Frankfurt captain Kevin Trapp for much of the season but he has started the last five games with the German out with a shin injury.

Santos is a Copa Libertadores winner with his former club Flamengo and he has made two appearances for Brazil’s Under 20 side. On Thursday night, he was involved in the incident that handed Tottenham their winner in the Europa League over the Bundesliga side, clattering into James Maddison for the award of a spot kick to the Ang Postecoglou’s men.

Chevalier, meanwhile, has played every minute of Lille’s league and Champions League campaigns and has been called up to France’s last two senior squads but is yet to earn a cap.

He has an impressive record of 35 clean sheets in 94 Ligue 1, with 94 goals conceded in that time.

Interest in the pair does not condemn current No 1 Onana to the Old Trafford exit, however. The Cameroonian, who enjoyed a celebratory moment with his manager during United’s extraordinary 5-4 win over Lyon on Thursday night, is reportedly keen to fight for his place.
