Bayern Munich have reportedly withdrawn their contractual offer to Joshua Kimmich following extensive negotiations since the beginning of the season.

The 30-year-old midfielder is an undisputed starter for Vincent Kompany but faces a potential exit from Allianz Arena in the status of a free agent in the upcoming summer.

Previously, it was thought that the agreement was only a matter of time after reports emerged that Kimmich made his decision to remain at Bayern.

It was understood that the Bundesliga silver holders were set to improve their proposal and were waiting for the midfielder’s response.

Bayern have been working tirelessly to convince several key squad players to remain in the club after sealing the deals with Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies earlier.

However, according to Bild, the German star was informed that his contractual offer was withdrawn following hesitation from the player.

Previously, it was revealed that the current Premier League leaders, Liverpool, are interested in strengthening their midfield line with the addition of Kimmich.

It was thought that the 30-year-old player would fit perfectly in Arne Slot’s system, who prefers to use one of the midfielders in a deep role.

Kimmich has recommended himself as an elite No 6, and also a versatile player who can appear in the right back position.

However, despite a total of 426 games for Bayern, the club decided that they would no longer increase their offer.

Undeniably, if the German international does not re-open the negotiations with the Bundesliga side, he will be in the top interest of numerous top clubs in Europe.

Last summer, Kimmich also shortlisted Arsenal and Manchester City, besides LaLiga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Meanwhile, the player is unlikely to appear on the pitch on Friday against VfB Stuttgart due to a hamstring injury.
